General Labor Dollars (dollars) - Edit for use

The Estimate Rocket example item template has a general labor dollars item that calculates customer price, profit margin and work order components based on the number of dollars added to the project

Navigate to Settings > Item List and click on the item count on the right under to filter you item list by all items in the General group. In the item list either scan the list or search for general labor dollars.


  • The general labor dollars consists of single labor item which is general labor. The labor is going to be configured at the typical price of that labor that is being done. 
  • The price to the customer will be the exact number of dollars that are entered into this line item.
  • The benefit and use case of this assembly is to calculate the number of hours for the work order based on the dollars entered. Entering $100 when the labor is $50 per hour will calculate 2 hours for the work order a job.


Change the General Labor Dollars price to the customer

  • There is no real change of price to the customer on this assembly. Passing in $10,000 means the customer will see $10,000 on the estimate. 


Changing the labor price will change how many hours are calculated for the work order based on the dollar amount entered. 

At $50 per hour the labor on a $1000 job will calculate to 20 hours.
At $100 per hour the labor on a $1000 job will calculate to 10 hours.
