Managing the Estimating Templates

There were a number of industry specific estimating templates copied to my account either automatically or through a request to the support team.  How do I manage those estimating templates?

Now what?  Do some basic estimating template edits.

The industry specific estimating templates were added to your account with default labor prices and default material prices. The first step is to edit those labor and material prices.

Edit the labor price - Detailed Edit Labor Price Help

The hours calculated or entered into a project multiplied by the labor price determine the total labor price for the estimate.  Interior painting services, for example,  defaults at $50 / hour in the template.

Edit the material price - Detailed Edit Material Price Help

Replace the generic material - Detailed Replace Generic Material Help

Templates are delivered with generic materials such as interior wall paint. Replace the generic materials with your own materials and the proper pricing and material representation in the final proposal.

Advanced Edits to default templates

Advanced edits to the default templates are not needed to get started with Estimate Rocket. Once you have a feel for the product and the output generated when specific items are added to a project then you can fine tune the labor and materials on various items.

Add task specific labor - Detailed Add new Labor help

Labor in most of the templates are based on a single labor level.  If there was a desire to track different levels of labor, such as prep labor versus painting labor for example, there will need to be different labor added that represent the different skill levels.

Add different quality materials - Detailed Add different quality materials help

Estimating at a mid level paint will allow for the up sell to the premium paint and the price reduction for the customers who can't afford them mid level option.
