General Labor Hours (hours) - Used in Project

The general labor hours (hours) item is the basic labor item with a price of $50 per hour. For a labor type item the labor hours are added directly to the time and labor area and the price per hour determines the final project price on the project: 

  1. Price and detailed work description for your customer to see
  2. Estimated profit margin calculation
  3. Time goes straight into work orders

In this sample project area is going to add general labor hours to a project

Line Item is Added Directly to the Project



  • General Labor Hours = 20
  • Production rate of service = NA
  • Labor Calculation 1 = 20 hours pass directly through to the work order
  • Labor Calculation 2 = 20 hours x $50 / hour = $1000


The general labor hours is priced at $1000.00 and the customer will see that price on their estimate along with a detailed description of the work to be done.

Estimated Profit Margin

The general labor hours calculates an estimated profit margin for this project based on the margin of the labor item and can seen in the project detail screen.

In this case there is only a labor component involved in the calculation, the price to the customer is based on the hours total passed into the project times the price per hour. The profit margin for the general labor dollars is 50% based on the default item setup.


The labor, in this case, passed directly into work order. The labor and materials section is not displayed on the customer estimate but is displayed in the work order.
