Job reworks cost the construction / contracting billions of dollars per year. Thin profit margins don't have time built in to redo any part of a project.
Having a set of organized documents and having multiple team members have access to those documents is an ideal way to avoid costly job reworks in the contacting industry.
A clearly defined scope of work with materials at all phases as well as having sign offs at all phases will be critical to know that all phases have been completed properly and all materials are correct.
Define the Scope of Work In the Original Proposal
Having a solid definition of the scope of work in the original document will give the client and your whole team an understanding of what is being done on this project. Knowing the client has signed off on the scope of work also emphasizes the fact that everything has been approved as needed. This scope of work appears in the project detail in Estimate Rocket as well as in the signed proposal and work order documents.
Sign Offs on Project Phases Being Completed / Inspected
If the project has multiple phases have a change order sign off that each phase has been completed. This can be the project manager signing off with an inspector or the client giving verification that the step has been completed to their satisfaction and inspected.
Sign Off on Material Selection
Such a sign off might be used for paint color / finish, materials used in a landscaping / hardscaping project or even colors on an epoxy garage floor or decorative concrete project.
If you have EVER had a project where the client said…..'wait, that's the wrong color' mid project you know the feeling.
